October is a very busy month at the museum. Come join the fun at the Oren Dunn Museum.
Our Quilt Exhibit starts October 11 and goes through Nov. 12. Lisa-Marie Sanders was a guest speaker and delighted us with her story of becoming a quilter in the book, Quilting with Aliens. We have several of her quilts displayed in the Museum, along with traditional quilts made by locals. We have two Crazy Quilts that date back to the 1840's.
For students and teacher we have Living History Days on October 21 and 28th. Visitors step back into the 1800 to see blacksmiths, soap making, toys, skins and skulls, dulicimer music, basket weaving and much more.
Demonstrators are also here for the Fall Festival on October 29. There will also be food and craft vendors on site that day. Admission is FREE for a tour of Oren Dunn Museum and Veterans Museum.
Our Bluegrass Festival is on October 30, from 1 to 5 pm on the Dog Trot House Front Porch. Come join us for pickin sessions, good food, and family entertainment. Bring your lawn chairs and coolers. Admission is $5 for adults, children under 10 are free.
